La couleur est dite tridimensionnelle en raison de ses trois aspects uniques. Lorsque vous cherchez à définir une couleur spécifique, il y a trois propriétés à considérer ; Teinte, Valeur et Saturation. Ces propriétés sont les éléments constitutifs de la signification poétique et symbolique de la couleur dans l'expression photographique créative.

La couleur est un outil puissant pour composer une déclaration visuelle poétique et est hautement descriptive pour développer les capacités imaginatives de l'œil de l'esprit. Certaines couleurs ont un poids symbolique qui, lorsqu'elles sont utilisées dans les arts visuels, évoque certaines humeurs, pensées, idées et concepts, simplement par leur présence. La couleur crée différentes émotions et sentiments. Ces réactions sont enracinées dans les effets psychologiques, le conditionnement biologique et l'empreinte culturelle.

La macrophotographie consiste à montrer un sujet plus grand qu'il ne l'est dans la vraie vie - un gros plan extrême de quelque chose de petit. La photographie est toujours une question de perspective. -Ben Long.

 

La macrophotographie met le photographe au défi de capturer les détails infimes et granulaires d'un monde qui échappe généralement à notre attention quotidienne : cela peut inclure des insectes, des plantes, des détails naturels et produits par l'homme de n'importe quel sujet dans le monde qui nous entoure - de la texture de plumes au labyrinthe géométrique d'une carte à puce.

A portrait begins with attention—an act of looking, and of being looked at. Each image holds a tension between appearance and interior life. A face, posture, gesture, or setting may suggest clarity, but also carries ambiguity. Some portraits are direct and documentary; others are constructed, performative, or conceptual. They may reveal intimacy or explore distance, anonymity, and self-invention.

 

To make a portrait is to engage another presence—or to turn the camera toward oneself—and consider how identity is shaped, expressed, withheld, or transformed within the frame.

Praxis Gallery presents photographic portraits that examine the depth and complexity of the human subject. The exhibition features work reflecting lived experience, psychological presence, cultural context, and formal exploration through the lens. Juried by Elizabeth Flinsch.

Le liquide épouse la forme de son contenant. Le ciel est une sphère abstraite, centrée sur la terre. Liquide, Eau, Ciel et l'espace liminal entre sont par définition poétiques et symboliques. Pourtant, il existe une infinité d'itérations de liquide et de ciel : considérez notre volonté humaine de maîtriser et de contenir les liquides (piscines, prélèvements, robinets et bouteilles) ; des lamentations idiomatiques de « lait renversé » ou « de l'eau sous les ponts » - tout en s'élevant dans des bâtiments imposants, des avions et des fusées qui poussent vers le ciel.

Praxis Gallery cherche la soumission de l'art photographique qui explore les idées de liquide et de ciel dans leurs innombrables itérations ; des paysages à la nature morte - du scientifique au conceptuel, Praxis cherche une enquête largement interprétée sur ces idées toujours fluides et toujours éthérées. Le vieil adage, "Une image vaut mille mots", semble suggérer qu'une photographie transcende le langage, mais les mots ont été un élément clé du travail de nombreux photographes importants, des panneaux d'affichage et des signes dans de nombreuses photos de Walker Evans à Lee Le livre de Friedlander de 2019, Signs, par exemple.   L'interaction du langage et de l'image peut créer un vif sentiment de tension, d'ironie ou d'émotion. La taille et les formes d'une police sont des aspects visuels qui peuvent avoir autant de poids que n'importe quel autre aspect du cadre.

LIQUIDE ~ CIEL

Le liquide épouse la forme de son contenant. Le ciel est une sphère abstraite, centrée sur la terre. Liquide, Eau, Ciel et l'espace liminal entre sont par définition poétiques et symboliques. Pourtant, il existe une infinité d'itérations de liquide et de ciel : considérez notre volonté humaine de maîtriser et de contenir les liquides (piscines, prélèvements, robinets et bouteilles) ; des lamentations idiomatiques de « lait renversé » ou « de l'eau sous les ponts » - tout en s'élevant dans des bâtiments imposants, des avions et des fusées qui poussent vers le ciel.

Praxis Gallery cherche la soumission de l'art photographique qui explore les idées de liquide et de ciel dans leurs innombrables itérations ; des paysages à la nature morte - du scientifique au conceptuel, Praxis cherche une enquête largement interprétée sur ces idées toujours fluides et toujours éthérées. Tous les genres, types de capture, noir et blanc et couleur, processus traditionnels et non traditionnels et post-production numérique sont tous les bienvenus pour la soumission.

Le terme composition signifie « assembler » ou l'acte de combiner des parties ou des éléments pour former un tout - en adhérant souvent aux principes de composition qui rendent une œuvre d'art photographique plus attrayante ou intrigante pour les spectateurs. Ces principes incluent le développement du rythme, du mouvement, du contraste, de l'équilibre, de l'unité, de la proximité et de la continuité pour créer des compositions expressives et convaincantes - tout en mettant l'accent sur différents concepts visuels.
