Introduction à la chambre noire est conçu pour les débutants en photographie analogique qui souhaitent apprendre les techniques de base de la chambre noire, y compris le développement de films noir et blanc, la réalisation de planches contact et l'impression avec un agrandisseur. Une expérience préalable en chambre noire n'est pas nécessaire et une compréhension de base de l'exposition, bien qu'utile, n'est pas essentielle.

Beginning Darkroom: Shoot • Develop • Print Your First Roll of Black & White Film. Discover the magic of the traditional photographic darkroom in this hands-on, two-evening introduction to black & white film photography. Designed for beginners, this workshop will guide you through the complete process—from exposing a roll of film to making your first silver gelatin print. On the first evening, participants photograph the neighborhood using a manual 35mm camera provided by Praxis (or bring their own camera), then develop their black & white negatives in the darkroom. On the second evening, you'll create a contact sheet, learn how to make test strips, and produce a finished photographic print to take home. – What You'll Learn • Operate a manual 35mm film camera • Understand basic film exposure and processing • Develop black & white film • Make and evaluate contact sheets • Create test strips • Produce your first finished darkroom print – What's Included • Black & white film processing chemistry • Up to 10 sheets of Ilford RC printing paper • Archival sleeve for your processed negatives • Aprons and non-latex gloves • Light lunch (participants with dietary restrictions should bring their own) – Requirements No previous darkroom experience is necessary. Participants may use a camera provided by Praxis or bring their own camera and exposed 35mm to develop – Class Details • Tuition: $225 • Class Size: Limited to 4 participants – Bonus All Beginning Darkroom participants receive one month of complimentary Access Membership, including: • Community darkroom access • Scanner access • Enlargers from 35mm through 8×10 • Member Analog Gallery • 10% discount on workshops • Invitations to special events • Quarterly newsletter – Accessibility Reduced or waived tuition is available for individuals receiving Social Security disability benefits.
