Praxis Photo Arts Center is a community-access film developing, darkroom printing, and analog photography lab in Minneapolis. Unlike a traditional film processing lab where photographers drop off or mail in their film, Praxis gives photographers the equipment, chemistry, and workspace to develop their own film, make their own photographic prints, and scan their negatives. Our wet and dry darkrooms support black-and-white film development, color film processing, traditional silver-gelatin printing, and enlarging from 35mm through 8×10. The facility also includes individual work areas, archival workflow equipment, and a professional film-scanning station.

Don’t pay by the roll. Learn to develop it yourself. Access Members can develop as many rolls of film as they want for $35 per month, with black-and-white chemistry included. If you’ve never developed film before, Praxis can teach you the process so you can begin processing your own film independently.

The analog photography lab is open 24/7 for Access Members and serves as a shared workspace for photographers who want hands-on control over developing, printing, and scanning their work. Members have access to black-and-white darkroom chemistry, color processing equipment, enlargers, and professional film scanning. Whether you're learning to develop film for the first time or looking for an alternative to a conventional Minneapolis film processing or photo printing lab, Praxis provides the equipment and workspace to do the work yourself.
