NUDE GEOGRAPHIES

Opening Reception: September 19, 6–8 PM
Exhibition Dates: September 19–October 10, 2026

The nude figure has held a central place in art for centuries—explored as a symbol of beauty, vulnerability, sensuality, and human complexity. From classical traditions to contemporary interpretations, artists have turned to the nude to express everything from idealized form to emotional depth.

The nude remains one of photography's most enduring and versatile subjects—intimate or confrontational, formal or raw, poetic or political. Praxis Gallery invites submissions that explore the nude in all its forms, including figure studies, environmental and implied nudes, and work that examines identity, representation, the body as form, or the relationship between the figure and its surroundings through aesthetic, conceptual, emotional, or experimental approaches.

THE INTERPRETATIONOF DREAMS

Submission Deadline: Sept 20, 2026, 11:59 PM CT
Notification: Sept 24, 2026, 4 PM CT
Exhibition Dates: Oct 17 – Nov 14, 2026

Photography is often seen as a record of what is real. But the frame can also become a portal—an invitation into the imagined, the unconscious, and the symbolic. In the realm of dreams, time folds, logic dissolves, and meaning slips through what is revealed and what is withheld.

Praxis Gallery seeks photographic works that explore dream states and interior worlds. Submissions may encompass constructed realities, surreal compositions, symbolic gestures, lyrical narratives, and emotionally resonant abstractions. We welcome images that feel like fragments of the subconscious—poetic, uncanny, or mythic. Curated by Praxis Directors. All lens-based artwork is welcome.

HEADLINE: CFE SAMPLE

Submission Deadline: Aug 16, 11:59PM CT
Notification: Aug 25, 2026. 4PM CT
Exhibition dates:  Sept 19 - Oct 10, 2026

Speaking of the power of photography, Garry Winogrand once said, “Putting four edges around a collection of information or facts transforms it.” Take that idea one step further: what happens when you place a frame—a doorway, window, mirror, picture frame, architectural element, or other structure—within the photograph itself?

Praxis Gallery seeks photographic art that uses one or more frames within the image as the conceptual foundation for visual expression. Whether emphasizing a subject, creating layers of meaning, revealing relationships between spaces, or exploring perspective, boundary, reflection, and isolation, we welcome all genres and interpretations.

Up to 38 photographs will be selected for exhibition at Praxis Gallery in Minneapolis. Photographers will be notified approximately 12 days after the submission deadline.
