C-41 Color Film Processing (One-on-One)

FORMAT: One-on-One Instruction

DURATION: One evening session

 

SCHEDULING: Sessions are scheduled directly between the instructor and the participant. After registration, the instructor will contact the participant to arrange a date and time that works for both parties.

 

COST: $95.00

An introductory one-on-one session in C-41 color film processing using the JOBO CPE2 rotary processor. This class is ideal for beginners who want to learn the essentials of color negative development in a focused, hands-on setting. No prior experience with color film processing is required.

 

Participants will be guided through chemistry preparation, temperature control (38 °C), and rotary processing workflow. Each participant will process a provided roll of color film during the session. A demonstration of loading and processing 4×5 color sheet film using the JOBO processor will also be included.

 

Participants will leave with processed color negatives.

Scanning instruction is offered separately.

 

Completion of this session fulfills the requirement to reserve the JOBO processor as an Access Member.

Course Content:

 

One Session: Color Film Development

  • Introduction to the C-41 process

  • Chemistry prep, temperature control (38°C), agitation

  • Hands-on film processing with the Jobo CPE2 system

  • Shooting and processing provided roll of color film

  • Demo: Loading and processing 4x5 color film

Kevin Ealaín has been making photographs for nearly twenty years. He built his first darkroom in a rented duplex in 2012 after taking a community ed class in St. Paul, and he’s been devoted to film and silver-based printing ever since. The only thing he enjoys more than watching an image appear under the red safelight is sharing his knowledge and passion for the craft with others.
