El poder de la fotografĆa como herramienta narrativa se deriva de la impresiĆ³n de que lo que se captura dentro del marco es una representaciĆ³n precisa de lo que realmente ocurriĆ³ en un momento especĆfico. Por completa o completa que pueda parecer cualquier narrativa, siempre estarĆ” sujeta a un proceso de inclusiĆ³n de algunos elementos y exclusiĆ³n de otros. Estas inclusiones y exclusiones son una parte crucial de lo que se trata la narraciĆ³n fotogrĆ”fica: lo que se presenta dentro del marco para el espectador y lo que se deja fuera o se deja a la imaginaciĆ³n del espectador.
Praxis Gallery presenta trabajos fotogrĆ”ficos que exploran el desarrollo de narrativas visuales a travĆ©s de la imagen fija. Las historias pueden tomar cualquier forma o forma; pueden ser literales o de fantasĆa, documentales o de ficciĆ³n; complejo o mĆnimo.

IntroducciĆ³n al cuarto oscuro estĆ” diseƱado para los reciĆ©n llegados a la fotografĆa analĆ³gica que desean aprender las tĆ©cnicas bĆ”sicas del cuarto oscuro, incluido el revelado de pelĆculas en blanco y negro, la creaciĆ³n de hojas de contacto y la impresiĆ³n con una ampliadora. "Making portraits is more than a physical form, it’s a silent communication in understanding and respect between the photographer and the subject. There’s an internal emotion and fire of the soul that you try to capture." – Sandra
In her book, Portraits and Persons, writer Cynthia Freeland describes three essential elements that constitute a portrait: “(1) a recognizable physical body (2) an inner life, i.e., some sort of psychological or mental states and (3) self-presentation, or the "posing.”
Praxis Gallery presents photographs that celebrate the aesthetic and conceptual considerations involved in the creation of the portrait: revealing personal narratives or new anthologies through the artistic representation of the subject. Juried by Sandrine Hermand Grisel
