Create Unique & Beautiful Pieces Of Original Artwork, One Plate At A Time!

"This experience was beyond my expectations. I am THRILLED with the results and EXCITED to jump into doing this myself. Thank you Carla!!” Workshop Student

During this two-day workshop, you will learn how to make "direct positive" 4"x5" tintypes from start to finish—there are no negatives or enlargements in this process. The first day of the seminar you will learn the chemistry and techniques to pour, expose, develop and varnish your plates. The second day students will have the opportunity to create their own tintypes using large format view cameras. Two tintypes are included in the cost of the workshop, and students may make 1-2 more at $40 if time and materials allow. A portrait sweep will be set up to either photograph each other or a guest on day 2 of the workshop. Students will receive guidance and advice during the creation of their plates and the basic process steps will be refined as students become familiar with making their own Collodion Wet Plates.  After finishing this course you will have the foundation of skills, information, and experience to continue the Wet-Plate process on your own and create unique and compelling pieces of original art, one plate at a time!
